Learn how to conduct a safety meeting in 15 minutes or less to alert employees about workplace hazards and risks.

A. Before the Meeting

  1. Select your Topic
    1. Log In to your customer portal here.
    2. Select "Resources" or "Risk Management" in the top navigation.
    3. Browse the available Safety Topics or search by industry.
  2. Prepare
    1. Review injury reports to identify if employee injuries relate to meeting topic.
    2. Identify jobs and tasks where the topic applies and be prepared to use examples.
    3. Identify  equipment or tools that apply to the meeting topics
    4. Review your presentation before conducting the meeting.
  3. Document
    1. Have employees sign a Safety Meeting Attendance form as evidence that the meeting occurred. Keep these in a "Safety Meeting" folder for future reference.

B. During the Meeting

  1. Keep It Interesting
    1. Use personal experience

  3. Frequency
    1. Hold meetings monthly or quarterly depending on the size of your business. Consider scheduling at the same date and time.
  4. Timing
    1. Hold meetings at the beginning of a shift, right after lunch, or after a break.
